No Surprises Act protection. Emergency services are covered regardless of network status, without prior authorization. The member cannot be balance-billed: payment is determined on the plan's emergency reimbursement basis, and any amount billed above the plan's allowed amount may not be collected from the patient beyond their in-network cost-sharing.
